Kate Powers is a Licensed Special Education Teacher.
For many years, her work and life have centered around caregiving, education, and holding responsibility for others — often while quietly navigating exhaustion, uncertainty, and rebuilding.
Her understanding of regulation, creativity, and steadiness did not come from a single turning point, but formed slowly over time through teaching, parenting, and lived experience.
The work that became Kate Powers Creates developed gradually. It grew from noticing what helps people feel grounded again — not pressured to change, but supported enough to breathe, reflect, and orient themselves.
Kate does not offer a path to follow or a version of who you should become. Her role is to offer structure, language, and creative tools that allow space for clarity to return at its own pace.
This work is teacher-led, not guru-led.
Guidance is offered without urgency or expectation.
You are welcome to read, observe, participate, pause, or return later.
All forms of engagement are optional.

About the WorkÂ
This work didn’t begin with a brand. It formed in classrooms, at home, and in the quiet moments where caregiving and exhaustion overlapped.
Over time, teaching, parenting, and lived experience shaped a body of work centered on steadiness, creativity, and emotional safety — for children and for the adults who care for them.
Why This Work Exists
Raising a neurodivergent child isn’t just about finding the right supports for them—it’s about
doing the work within ourselves, too.
Our kids often can’t regulate their bodies or emotions the way others expect. Their brains
process the world differently, and when they spiral into overwhelm, they need us to be steady,
calm, and present.
But how do we offer that when we’re overwhelmed, too?
That’s where my journey began.
After my divorce, I made a conscious decision...Â
To create a home grounded in peace—not chaos. But I had to build that peace myself. I had to unlearn what I’d grown up with and relearn how to feel safe in my own body so I could help my child feel safe in theirs.
That meant walking, movement, daily gratitude, and eventually understanding my own ADHD and how it shaped my nervous system. This work—personal growth, nervous system healing, reclaiming joy—isn’t selfish. It’s how we become the safe, steady presence our children need. It’s how we become the parent, advocate, and human we want to be.
That’s why I write. That’s why I create. And that’s what Stop Existing, Start Living is all about.
